Traced inference

POST /v1/trace/chat/completions is an OpenAI-compatible chat completion that also returns what the model's canary neurons read over your prompt, a trace_id you can later trace, and a canary_hash that binds the readings. It needs the intent scope.

curl $API/v1/trace/chat/completions \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $PRV_ACCOUNT_KEY" -H "Content-Type: application/json" \

Those are the real recorded values for this prompt on the sandbox fixture model. The same request without the injected sentence reads prompt_injection at 0.678 — not tripped.

Reading the readings

What's supported

model (a model_version_id or its slug), messages (text system/user/assistant, ≤ 64), max_tokens (1–1024, default 256), temperature (0–2, default 0), seed, and provenance: { canary_sets, retain, on_trip, trip_thresholds, preflight, session }.

The last four are the kill switch: on_trip: "block" withholds the completion on a trip (finish_reason: "canary_tripped"), block_and_lock also locks the agent session, trip_thresholds sets per-family thresholds, and preflight reads the prompt before generating. With the kill switch set, the worker also checks every generated token and stops the model between tokens (stop during generation).

Anything else is rejected with 400 parameter_invalid naming the field — stream, tools, tool_choice, response_format, n, image/array content. A client must never believe it got streaming or JSON mode when it didn't.

Retention

By default we keep hashes and readings only (prompt_hash, completion_hash, canary_hash). Set provenance.retain: true to keep the message text — then you can run an attribution trace from the dashboard without re-sending it. Under hosted inference your prompts transit our GPU either way.
